TUESDAY, DECEMBER 10, 2002

Members of the Shoshone-Bannock Nation of Idaho are being warned not to adopt a proposed blood quantum requirement for tribal enrollment.

Ernestine Werelus of the Fort Hall Landowners Alliance said the rule will lock out future generations of tribal members. Currently, there is no blood quantum requirement.

A January 31 election will be held to see if voters want to change their constitution to adopt a 1/4-blood quantum standard.
