A federal judge on Monday said Vice President Dick Cheney does not have to release information about his energy task force to Congressional investigators.

The General Accounting Office (GAO), acting on a request from Democrat members of the House, sought to discover who met with the task force. But U.S. District Judge John D. Bates said the request intruded into the powers of the executive branch.

The task force consulted almost exclusively with industry leaders, previously released documents show. Environmental groups were left out until they complained.
