Gaming an issue in tribal election

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 6, 2002 Voters of the Colorado River Indian Tribes of Arizona are angry about the tribe's expensive and unsuccessful campaign to authorize continued gaming, The Arizona Republic reports. The tribe spent $10.3 million of its own money on Proposition 200. The initiative was rejected by voters in large margins and tribal members are upset they weren't consulted about the costly campaign. That could cost some leaders their seats on the council. Tribal members go to the polls on Saturday to choose five of nine council seats. Get the Story:
