Editorial: Indians worse off than others

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 5, 2002 The Sioux Falls Argus Leader in an editorial today says more study is needed to find out why American Indians are worse off than immigrants and refugees in a South Dakota city. The paper refers to a recent study of new arrivals to Sioux Falls. "Native Americans are worse off than immigrants and refugees," the paper says. "And Native Americans perceive themselves as much less welcome than immigrants and refugees." The paper says the city needs to investigate why Natives face problems with money, discrimination and employment. Get the Story:
