Research being published next year in the journal Human Evolution documents 13,000-year-old bones found in Mexico.

The skull and remains are reported to be of a 26-year-old woman who died near Mexico City. The age indicates that people lived in the Americas long before many accept.

But an archaeologist leading the research team also says the skull has Caucasian features. "They were definitely not Mongoloid in appearance. They were from somewhere else. As to whether they were European, at this point in time we cannot say 'no'," Dr. Silvia Gonzalez told The London Independent.
