TUESDAY, DECEMBER 3, 2002

In May, the Puyallup Tribe of Washington began distributing $2,000 in casino profits to its 2,800 members.

The payments have already made a world of difference, tribal members told The Seattle Post-Intelligencer. Families have been able to afford their own homes, quality for loans, purchase clothes and other necessities and plan for the future.

The tribe's casino makes $8 million to $9 million in profits, the paper said.
