Wash. tribe buys horse track land

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 26, 2002 The Muckleshoot Tribe of Washington has purchased more than 150 acres of land where a horse track is located. The tribe did not disclose the sale price. The Seattle Post-Intelligencer said the land is worth $70 million. A horse track executive said he just found out about the sale but that it wouldn't affect operation of the facility. The tribe might seek to take the land into trust. If successful, it could turn the facility into a casino. At the same time, the horse track industry is seeking to bring slot machines to the their facilities. Get the Story:
