FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 22, 2002 Representative Jim Hansen (R-Utah), chairman of the House Resources Committee, which presides over Indian and Insular Affairs, issued the following statement regarding the retirement of Assistant Secretary for Indian Affairs Neal McCaleb. November 22, 2002. “I am sorry to see Neal McCaleb leave the Interior Department. He has met the challenge of the Indian Trust reform with tireless commitment. His knowledge of America ’s native people, and his passion for their continued economic development has been indisputably evident during his years of service. We are losing a crucial member of our team with his departure. I wish him the very best in his much-deserved retirement. His dedication and remarkable patience will be hard to replace.”
