The Canadian government has limited liability of the Anglican Church in abuse suits brought by Aboriginals.

Natives were forced to attend boarding schools run by the church. They have filed suits claiming physical, sexual and mental abuse.

Church leaders say the suits are bankrupting them. So the Canadian government limited the church's liability to US$16 million ($25 million Canadian). The government will pick up the rest of the tab.
