WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 20, 2002 A judge in Utah agreed to lower charges against a woman accused of digging up an Indian grave site, The Salt Lake Tribune reported. Jeanne Redd, 44, pleaded no contest to a reduced misdemeanor count of "attempted" abuse or desecration of a body. The paper said the Redd acknowledges she could have been convicted of a felony. Meanwhile, charges against her husband, James Redd, were dismissed altogether. Redd will serve six months court probation but no jail time, the paper reported. After the probation is concluded, the charge will be further reduced one level. A separate civil lawsuit against the Redds is pending on grounds they destroyed a prehistoric grave site listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Get the Story:
