A federal judge on Wednesday dismissed charges against a non-Indian man accused of conspiring to steal funds from the Crow Tribe of Montana.

U.S. District Judge Richard Cebull said the federal government failed to prove its case against Wayne Kimmet. He was charged with stealing tribal money in order to help former chairman Clifford Bird in Ground buy cars for friends and associates.

Bird in Ground and his brother have pleaded guilty. Another non-Indian is going to trial.
