Calif. mission has tragic history

The 400th anniversary of the first Catholic mass in California was remembered on Tuesday as a link to the state's colonial past.

The site of the mass turned into the San Diego Mission. Larry Banegas, a spokesman for the Barona Tribe of Mission Indians, said that was the start of enslavement of his tribe.
