Carl Venne was sworn in as the new chairman of the Crow Tribe of Montana on Tuesday.

Venne was chosen in a special election after former chairman Clifford Bird in Ground quit due to his federal indictment and subsequent guilty plea.

According to The Billings Gazette, there was a confrontation yesterday that prevented Venne from taking over. Sources said vice chairman Vincent Goes Ahead Jr., who lost the special election, and Venne disputed the transfer of power.
