The 59th annual session of the National Congress of American Indians kicked off in San Diego, California, on Monday.

The theme of the five-day conference is "United for Sovereignty: Our Destiny - Our Right." Trust reform, sovereignty protection, economic development, sacred sites, land-into-trust and health care are some of the issues being addressed.
