FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 8, 2002

A key Republican lawmaker wants to repeal a law that exempts non-Indians from state sales tax at Indian-owned businesses.

State Sen. Hal Bunderson says the exemption should apply only to tribal members. He is set to chair the Senate tax committee, The Idaho Statesman reports.

Bunderson is one of a group of GOP lawmakers that have tried to impose a gas tax on tribes and who fought an Indian gaming measure. Tribes have won key battles on both accounts.
