Chickasaw tribal member heads into space

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 6, 2002

John Herrington, a member of the Chickasaw Nation of Oklahoma, will become the first American Indian in space when the Space Shuttle Endeavour is launched this coming Monday.

Several tribal youth and elders have been invited to attend the launch at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Herrington will take with him an eagle feather and a flag of the Chickasaw Nation.
