TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 5, 2002

Ken Chambers, elected chief of the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma, pleaded not guilty last Friday to two charges of trespassing and abuse of office.

Chambers was brought in before the Court of Indian Offenses. He was released on his own recognizance.

Chambers was elected to lead the tribe but the Bureau of Indian Affairs continues to recognize Jerry Haney as principal chief.
