The Discovery Channel will air an episode about Custer's defeat at the Battle of the Little Bighorn.

The episode is based on the book Archaeology, History, and Custer's Last Battle: The Little Bighorn Re-examined. Author Richard Fox said the popular image of Custer dying a hero on June 25, 1876, is not supported by the historical record.

The episode of "Unsolved History" airs Wednesday.
