Crow Tribe plans coalbed methane project

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 5, 2002 The Crow Tribe of Montana, the Bureau of Indian Affairs and a drilling company are taking public comments about a coalbed methane project on the Crow Reservation. The tribe and Bill Barrett Corp. of Denver are planning to drill up to 44 exploratory wells on 9,000 acres of the reservation. The wells will be monitored for 18 months. If the work is successful, more extensive drilling will take place under a second phase of the project. A public hearing is being held Thursday on the reservation.
