A New Mexico county has sided with a group of ranchers who want Isleta Pueblo to allow people to cross tribal property.

The tribe, citing a need to prevent illegal dumping, cattle theft, vandalism and other offenses, locked the gate to a ranch it owns. The tribe has offered local ranchers a key to gain access to a private marble quarry but none have been taken, according to the ranch manager.

The tribe wants the 102,000-acre Comanche Ranch taken into trust.
