Makah chairman resigns to join BIA

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 23, 2002 Gordon Smith has resigned as chairman of the Makah Nation of Washington in order to work for the Bureau of Indian Affairs as a trust officer, The Peninsula Daily News reports. Smith's remaining two months of his term will be served by Ed Claplanhoo. Nathan Tyler will then become the new chairman. Get the Story:
