Tribal leaders in southwest Oklahoma have asked Secretary of Health and Human Services Tommy Thompson to investigate local problems with the Indian Health Service.

The Southwest Oklahoma Inter-Tribal Health Board has raised numerous complaints to former area director Charles Grim. According to The Daily Oklahoman, Grim never responded.

He was later promoted by President Bush to run the IHS.

His replacement, Dale Keel, has not fared any better with the tribes. They say they are being ignored, a charge refuted by an IHS spokesperson.
