Cherokee Nation gets out the vote

MONDAY, OCTOBER 21, 2002 The Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma has registered more than 9,000 voters. The tribe set up drives at tribal clinics, hospitals and offices. According to The Daily Oklahoman, 67 percent of new voters in five counties with a heavy Cherokee population registered as Democrats. The Chickasaw Nation registered 1,800 new voters, a spokesperson said. Get the Story:
