Santa Ana Pueblo in New Mexico is laying off more than one-third of its casino workforce.

The tribe said it expanded its $80 million casino resort too quickly. A total of 240 jobs out of 859 employees are being eliminated.

The tribe completed a casino expansion last year. The facility ranks among the top money makers in the state, benefiting from a location near Albuquerque, the largest city.
