WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 16, 2002

Santo Domingo Pueblo has purchased 4,338 acres of ancestral territory for an undisclosed price.

The Pueblo paid for the land with a settlement fund recently created by Congress. The bill involved a federal land exchange and compensation for aboriginal lands that were taken.

The purchase involves land within the tribe's original reservation.
