FRIDAY, OCTOBER 11, 2002

The Santee Tribe of Nebraska has installed machines at its tiny casino that may be illegal in the state.

The tribe is running "Reel Time Bingo," a product of Multimedia Games (NASDAQ: MGAM) of Texas. The company considers the games a form of bingo.

Federal regulators have not ruled on the issue. Another MGAM product known as MegaNanza is considered illegal in states like Nebraska, where casino-style gambling is not permitted.

The National Indian Gaming Commission hit an Oklahoma tribe with a notice of violation for operating the MegaNanza machine. The company sued but the case was thrown out.
