Petition: Tribe can't handle trust services

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 3, 2002 About 200 members of the Fort Belknap Tribe of Montana are protesting a tribal contract that takes over real estate and trust services from the Bureau of Indian Affairs. A group called the Fort Belknap Community Coalition says the tribe can't handle the functions. The tribal members are challenging the contract decision. Fort Peck tribal President Ben Speakthunder believes the tribe is capable. Get the Story:
