Cherokee Nation signs car tag deal

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 1, 2002 The Cherokee Nation and the state of Oklahoma signed a compact to share revenues from the proceeds of car tags. The tribe has an inherent right to offer car tags, which are typically priced cheaper than the state's. But it signed the deal to funnel money to the state for schools and for road improvement.
