FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 27, 2002

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) was critical of the Department of Interior at a Senate hearing on Indian trust this week.

McCain told Associate Deputy Secretary Jim Cason that there was a lack of "credibility" of the Interior. He told Cason not to take his criticism personally but that the department -- regardless of which political party is in charge -- always opposes change.
