FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 20, 2002

A resident of the Fort Belknap Reservation and a member of the Flathead Nation is the unofficial winner of a county commission seat in Montana.

Dolores Plumage was one of a few Indian candidates running for a new district created in Blaine County. The county's old system was found by a federal judge to have violated Native voting rights.

The decision is being appealed to the 9th Circuit.
