Navajo candidate chooses running mate

Navajo Nation presidential hopeful Joe Shirley chose Frank Dayish as his running mate.

According to The Farmington Daily-Times, Dayish is a political unknown but president of the Native American Church of North America. The paper cited one observer who said religion could play in issue in the election.

Shirley also belongs to the Native American Church. Incumbent President Kelsey Begaye is Christian.
