Court halts victory on trust land case

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 11, 2002 A federal appeals court on Tuesday halted a decision to take land into trust for a California tribe. The action affects 49 acres of land. Assistant Secretary Neal McCaleb agreed to acquire the land for the United Auburn Indian Community. The tribe wants to open a casino. Local groups oppose gaming. Get the Story:
