THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 5, 2002

A new report says removing four dams on the Snake River in eastern Washington won't have a major impact.

Rand Corp. said breaching the dams won't hurt the economy or affect power needs. The dams provide just 5 percent of the power, the report said.

Tribes and environmentalists say breaching will help restore dwindling runs of salmon.

The Bush administration opposes breaching.
