Tribes shell out cash for gaming bids

Arizona tribes have spent at least $10 million to promote their Indian gaming initiatives, The Arizona Republic reports.

The Colorado River Tribes spent $5 million and have put up their casino and resort as collateral for a $24 million loan. The 17 tribes of the Arizona Indian Gaming Association have spent $6.3 million.

The racetrack industry has spent $1.2 million on its initiative

Voters are being asked to authorize gaming for the tribes. The racetrack industry wants to legalize slot machines at racetrack facilities.
