HATRED OF TRIBES:
"Two years ago I was in the front row of the Ledyard High School auditorium to listen to Jeff Benedict speak about his new book “Without Reservation.” By the time the “discussion” ended, I was disgusted by what I had seen and heard. The verbal trashing that occurred that night was short only torches and pitchforks. To see a number of my fellow townspeople rally behind a man with such contempt and disdain for the local tribes was disheartening. . ."

ONE DNA, ONE TRIBE:
"Since there are so many “different “Pequot Indian tribes” (or so they say) why not simply do a DNA test to see if they are really just one tribe. . ."

IT'S THE CASINOS, STUPID:
"Chuck Potter's Aug. 10 column depicted the Connecticut Lottery as a ubiquitous, slick, state-sponsored enticement for people to gamble. From this accurate characterization of the lottery, he erroneously concluded that the state is inconsistent in resisting the expansion of casinos. He stated, “Connecticut needs to stifle its criticism of casinos and stop saying, “It's not about Indians; it's about gambling.”"
