MONDAY, AUGUST 26, 2002 The Bureau of Indian Affairs has a new chief information officer who is responsible for fixing the agency's numerous computer problems. Lack of network security ranks among the highest. Brian Burns is overseeing the construction of TrustNet, a secure network for Indian trust data. A federal court has found that billions of dollars in Indian money was housed on computer systems with no security protections. The BIA has hired Science Applications International and Electronic Data Systems (EDS to work on computer security and an accounting system. Get the Story:
