Suit filed to stop drilling in monument

TUESDAY, AUGUST 20, 2002 Four environmental groups on Monday sued to block an exploratory drilling project in the Canyons of the Ancients National Monument in Colorado. The Bush administration approved an oil well test. Critics say the plan will harm the monument's ancient Puebloan ruins and artifacts. The monument was created by former President Bill Clinton.
