THURSDAY, AUGUST 8, 2002 The only tribal member in the Senate is "leaving heavily" towards running for re-election, The Denver Rocky Mountain News reports today. But Ben Nighthorse Campbell (R-Colo.), vice-chairman of the Senate Indian Affairs Committee, appears ready to roll for an official announcement. Although his campaign fund lost money due to the volatile stock market, he recently spent $160,000 on a truck dubbed "Nighthorse One." "This is a mobile campaign office," the Northern Cheyenne tribal member told the paper. The truck is less a truck than a full-service RV, it turns out. Nighthorse One can sleep four people, has a bathroom, a kitchen and a mini-office. According to the paper, Campbell's election fund lost $86,756 in 2001. Get the Story:
