First Nations Chief lashes out

TUESDAY, AUGUST 6, 2002 A traditional First Nations chief is accusing his political opponents in British Columbia of currying to the white man. Bill Wilson was kicked off the First Nations Summit last month and hasn't really gotten over it, reports Ian Mulgrew of The Vancouver Sun. He blames his ouster on federal officials and their Native allies who he says don't want to hear the truth. "They still believe if you can get a token nigger in a high-up position in the Department of Indian Affairs then all the problems will be solved," Wilson told Mulgrew. "'Don't worry about it, we've got our House Indian here.'" Get the Story:
