Study compares casino addiction rates

MONDAY, AUGUST 5, 2002 A new study in Connecticut takes a look at gambling problems in casinos. Preliminary results show that addiction rates are higher at casino than in the general population, but not significantly so. Both are at about 5 percent. The University of Connecticut Health Center's Gambling Research and Treatment Center has found that recruiting at the Mohegan Sun Casino, owned by the Mohegan Tribe, drew the same number of people as efforts outside.
