Mohegan leaders targeted in recall effort

WEDNESDAY, JULY 31, 2002 A dispute over a tribal business deal has spurred a member of the Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut to seek the ouster of two top officials, The New London Day reports. Tribal council member Roland J. Harris was recently reprimanded by the Mohegan ethics committee for a construction job tied to the $1.1 billion expansion of the tribe's casino. Tribal member Grant Fox now alleges Harris took a kickback. Fox also wants to remove Jayne Fawcett, who is the Mohegan cultural ambassador. Fox says Fawcett is trying to prevent the rights of some tribal members. Get the Story:
