A new museum exhibit is highlighting an Alaska Native culture that has been overshadowed by a linguistic misnomer.

"Looking Both Ways," organized by the Smithsonian Institution's Arctic Studies Center showcases Alutiq culture through historical displays, art and other items. Alutiq is the preferred name for Native groups that were misnamed "Aleuts."

Some Alutiq, however, prefer the term "Sugpiaq." Sugtestun is the language of the Alutiq people.
