New Red Lake chairman vows changes

FRIDAY, JULY 19, 2002 Gerald "Butch" Brun, the newly elected chairman of the Red Lake Nation of Minnesota, says his tribe is in financial crisis. The tribe hopes to pay off a number of debts in the coming months. Reservation economic conditions are poor. Brun, who ran the tribe during the during the early 1990s, also wants to improve the credibility of the Red Lake government. A number of new council members were elected. Get the Story:
