A Democratic hopeful for Congress who wants to terminate the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut says he is not out of the race.

Author Jeff Benedict plans to force a primary for the 2nd Congressional district. Front-runner Joe Courtney says he has enough delegates to win the nomination.

Kitty Cooper, finance chairman for Benedict's campaign, alleges in an opinion piece that tribes can use "taxpayer money" to contribute to political candidates. "No other government in our nation is allowed to make political contributions," Cooper writes. "But tribes may do so with impunity."
