Schools differ on mascot solution

THURSDAY, JULY 11, 2002 A school board in Washington voted unanimously on Wednesday to end the use of Indian mascots in Seattle. Only one high school is affected, however. West Seattle High has until September 1 to change its "Indian" mascot. The Kansas State Board of Education also considered mascots yesterday but left the decision up to each individual school.
