TUESDAY, JULY 2, 2002

Parts of Mesa Verde National Park in Colorado are closed due to threat of fire.

The temporary closure affects Cliff Palace, one of the most popular sites in the park. Other areas, however, are still open to visitors.

A major fire in 2000 destroyed parts of the park and Ute Mountain Ute land.
