Ex-tribal council member found guilty

THURSDAY, JUNE 27, 2002 A Washington tribal jury has found a former Confederated Colville Tribes council member guilty of fraudulent credit card use and misuse of public funds. Oscar "Doc" Mellon was charged with using tribal credit cards to gamble at a Washington casino. He was also taking advances on his salary for travel and related expenses but also using the credit card to pay for them. The jury of six tribal members acquitted Mellon of one charge of embezzlement. Mellon is running for his old council seat. The ballots are still being counted. Get the Story:
