The FBI is investigating Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Christie Whitman, The Denver Post reports today.

The FBI is assisting an internal probe started up by former EPA ombudsman Robert Martin. Martin, a member of the Makah Nation of Washington, was looking into Whitman's financial ties to a company her decisions have affected.

Martin subsequently quit his job after Whitman reorganized his office. The Senate Environment and Public Works Committee held a hearing yesterday to address whether the move has accomplished its goals.
