Editorial Wake-up call on tribal casinos

MONDAY, JUNE 24, 2002 The Wall Street Journal in an editorial today calls the Bureau of Indian Affairs a "mecca for political manipulation," and says Congressional candidate Jeff Benedict of Connecticut is the man to fix the troubled agency. The paper acknowledges Benedict is having trouble among member of his own party. Joe Courtney is poised to secure the 2nd district's nomination. "Should Mr. Benedict win, or even come close, he'd send a wake-up call to the Beltway's far too cozy pro-gambling consensus," the paper says. Get the Story:
