Wyoming's House representative missed a vote this week on a bill to sell federal land to the Mormon Church.

But Rep. Barbara Cubin (R) claims her opposition wouldn't have made a difference. She said the measure was assured passage because of its powerful sponsor, Rep. Jim Hansen (R-Utah), the chairman of the House Resources Committee.

The bill allows for the sale of 940 acres in Wyoming to the church. The site is considered religious and is seen as a positive sign for tribes seeking to protect sacred lands.

The bill was approved on a voice vote but faces opposition in the Senate.
